Information we collect
The information Joshua’s Point receives depends on how you choose to contact us or use the website. We ask only for information that helps us answer you, arrange a stay, send updates you requested, operate the house, or protect the website.
Enquiries
An enquiry may include your name, email address, optional phone or WhatsApp number, proposed dates, group size, preferences, and the message you choose to send. We use this information to understand and answer your enquiry, discuss availability, and prepare a personal confirmation if you decide to stay.
Submitting an enquiry does not add you to the newsletter. Please do not include payment-card details, passport copies, medical records, or other sensitive information in the public message field.
Newsletter subscriptions
If you ask to receive news from Joshua’s Point, we use your email address to send a confirmation link. You are added only after you confirm. Newsletter contacts, consent status, topic membership, segment membership, and delivery activity are processed through Resend rather than stored in Sanity.
Every update will provide a way to unsubscribe. Leaving the newsletter does not affect an enquiry, a personal confirmation, or your ability to contact Joshua’s Point.
Website usage
The website and its hosting and security services may process limited technical information such as the page requested, time of access, browser or device information, referral information, and network data needed to deliver and protect the service. Where audience measurement is enabled, it is used to understand general website performance and improve content, not to make decisions about a person’s stay.
Automated-submission checks and request limits help reduce spam and repeated submissions. Security and delivery logs are kept separate from the editorial content in Sanity.
Operational records
When a private whole-house stay is being arranged or has been confirmed, Joshua’s Point may keep the practical records needed to manage dates, payments, the agreed group, communications, house preparation, access, maintenance, incidents, and accounting.
Operational guest data is stored separately from the public website and is not published through Sanity. Access is limited to the people and service providers who need it to arrange or support the stay.
Why we use information
- To answer enquiries and continue a conversation you started.
- To prepare and fulfil a personal confirmation for a private whole-house stay.
- To send news only after a newsletter subscription has been confirmed.
- To maintain security, prevent abuse, and understand whether the website works properly.
- To keep records reasonably needed for payments, accounting, property care, safety, and resolving concerns.
Where information is handled
Website content is managed through Sanity. Sanity contains editorial material and site settings; subscriber email addresses are not stored there. Newsletter processing is provided through Resend. Website hosting, email delivery, receiving mailboxes, and the separate operational systems used to support a stay process only the information needed for their role.
Service providers may process information in locations determined by their infrastructure and terms. Joshua’s Point chooses services for practical need and reviews access and configuration, but does not claim that every provider stores all information in one country.
How long information is kept
Information is kept only for as long as it remains reasonably useful for the purpose described, for an active conversation or stay, for security, or for records that must be retained. Different records have different useful lives. Newsletter information remains with Resend until you unsubscribe or the list is cleaned, subject to delivery and suppression records needed to honour that choice.
Security
Joshua’s Point uses restricted access, separate operational and public-content systems, secure connections, double opt-in for newsletters, and service credentials that are not placed in public website content. No online system can be promised to be completely risk-free, so we also limit what we ask people to send through public forms.
Your choices and rights
You may ask what personal information Joshua’s Point holds about you, request a correction, ask for deletion where the information is no longer needed, object to or limit a particular use, or unsubscribe from email updates. Some records may need to be retained for an active stay, security, accounting, a dispute, or another lawful reason; if so, we will explain this plainly.
We may need to confirm your identity before giving access to or changing personal information. You may also raise a concern with the relevant privacy authority where that right applies to you.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when the website, newsletter, operational systems, or legal requirements change. The review date shown with the page indicates when the material was last checked.
